Two clout-hungry small streamers, Riley and Mason, turn a wrong-number text into a live “prank” that spirals into a real-time nightmare. Their bait draws in Jayla, a mixed-race streamer who storms a suburban house on camera—and is violently snatched by Nate Finley, a reclusive serial streamer with fractured personas and a childlike roommate, Lyle. A mysterious hacker, Ghostbyte, “helps” by dropping an address, pushing the guys to chase views instead of calling the cops. Inside Nate’s rigged lair, they find echoes of past victims and the truth: Nate’s daughter died after a viral dare; now he feeds “Hey Chat” real blood.
Jayla reappears, dropping jewelry “breadcrumbs,” and the boys realize they’re being shepherded for content. Panic erupts; Riley may kill Jayla on stream as millions watch. Detective Thompson and neighbor Jean circle Nate, while Mason’s girlfriend Tasha becomes the moral compass racing to help. The climax collides in the woods and streets: chases, bodycams, dark-web streams, Ghostbyte’s ambush, and a desperate getaway—Tasha rams Nate, but he vanishes.
Aftermath: Mason quits to save his life; Riley, hollowed out, goes live again as numbers skyrocket. The final image: “Hey Chat” rolls on—and somewhere, Nate is still watching.
